NAPHA

NAPHA is the largest and most active organization for the breed in the world. It ended 2005 with well over 700 members, 19,409 horses, 33 recognized clubs and 33 approved shows. It is recognized by the ANCPCPP in Peru.

INTERNET DIRECTORIES

NAPHA offers members 4 Internet Directories via Searchable Databases. The Member Directory lists basic contact information as well as Listings of Services Offered (Horses for Sale, Stallions at Stud, Training, Boarding, Riding Lessons, etc.) The Horses Offered for Sale by Their Owner Directory gives stud book information on each horse (Reg#, Name, Color, Sex, Birthdate, Sire/Dam, Owner Contact and Listings (price, stage of training, uses.) The Peruvian Professional Trainers Directory gives general contact information and services offered (Clinics, Showing, Management, Standing of Stallions, Riding Lessons, etc.) The Stallions at Stud Directory gives general Horse and contact information and Listings such as Stud Fee, Shipped Semen available, etc. These directories allow members to take full advantage of the thousands of "hits" the NAPHA site receives.

STUD BOOK ON LINE

In conjuntion with the Peruvian Digest, NAPHA has put its Stud Book on the Internet. For an annual fee, owners may search a database which is updated each time registration work is completed at the office. Searches may be done by horse name, registration #, owner or breeder - as well as city, state or country. This means that breeders have the latest information on the breed constantly at hand for research. The site is located at www.pphrnastudbook.com.

PRINTED MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY LISTING

If you are a NAPHA member as of March 1st, you will automatically be listed in the current year's Membership Directory. These Directories are mailed to all NAPHA members. This free advertising is invaluable if you have horses or services for sale!

REGULAR OFFICE HOURS

Do you have a question? Need to know the fee for registration? Can't find a fellow breeder?

You may call the NAPHA office during normal business hours (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central Standard Time) Monday, - Friday. Office staff is available to answer your questions and meet the needs of the membership.

TURN-AROUND TIME

NAPHA staff works very hard to maintain a turn-around time of less than 3 weeks on all registration work. If you send in applications or transfers, please contact the office if you do not receive your completed work or a Request for Additional Information form within that time (allowing for the mail both ways!)

MEMBER DISCOUNTS

As a NAPHA member you will receive discounts on almost all NAPHA registration services and products. In addition, most of the NAPHA programs are only available to current members.

REGIONAL REPRESENTATION

As a member of NAPHA you are represented regionally by Governing Council Members who are elected each year. GCMs are nominated by and from the membership and voted for by those in their region. Annual meetings of the GCMs, Club and Show representatives provide vital information and direction to NAPHA - making it very responsive to the membership. Make sure you know your GCM and let him/her know your views on the important issues. All current NAPHA Members are welcome to attend the annual membership meeting.

LABELS

As a member, you may purchase pressure-sensitive labels of all known owner/breeders or members to simplify direct mailing to others in the breed. Orders may be customized.

INQUIRY SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE

Members may subscribe to a listing of all those who have inquired of NAPHA for information on the breed. These listings are sent to subscribers on a quarterly basis and give names and addresses - and when numbers allow, zip coded mailing labels. It also includes a list of all the new owners recorded for that quarter.

AWARDS PROGRAMS

Annual Awards for horses include the Medallon de Plata Awards for Colts, Fillies, Geldings, Mares and Stallions and 4 Zone Medallon Awards. Lifetime Awards are the Medallon de Oro, Medallon de Bronce and Triple Crown Awards. All are only available to horses owned by members in good standing. There is also a NAPHA Junior Horsemanship Program for Junior Members whereby young members gain points via most Peruvian-related activities as well as Annual High Point Junior Exhibitor Awards. NAPHA also offers a Junior Scholarship Program.

FORMS TO SIMPLIFY REGISTRATION PROCESS

You may obtain a variety of forms from the office or this website which greatly facilitate registration work: death of a horse, castration of a male, lease of a mare, lease of a stallion, sale of a horse on time, sale of an eligible but unregistered foal, authorization as agent, listing a horse for sale, registration of a suffix/prefix and request for a duplicate certificate. Forms for the shipped semen and embryo transfer programs may be ordered as well.

DNA TYPING BY UC DAVIS

NAPHA has an agreement for DNA typing with UC Davis which greatly expedites this process for owners. Typing requests and payments should be made directly to the NAPHA. It should be noted that UC Davis no longer supports blood typing requests.

PROMOTIONAL ITEMS

Several very special items offered include the very effective breed promotional video, the beautiful brass or pewter Peruvian Paso belt buckles, decals in three sizes, sets of the available back issues of the Peruvian Horse Review, National Show Souvenir Programs, videos and the National Show commemorative coffee mugs and t-shirts with the beautiful flag logo.

JUDGE'S & STEWARD'S ACCREDITATION PROGRAM

The NAPHA has in place a program to train and card Judges and Stewards for the Peruvian breed. As part of that program, a comprehensive NAPHA Judge's and Steward's Handbook has been formulated. This book is a must for those in the program as well as serious owners and breeders. A written test, student judging and interview are all part of the carding process so that exhibitors will be assured of knowledgeable, fair judging.

EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS & PROGRAMS

NAPHA offers various books and tapes on horses and the Peruvian in particular. Lists are available through the office.

PROMOTION OF NAPHA AFFILIATED CLUBS

All NAPHA affiliated clubs are listed on the website with a link to the club's web site if they have one.

PEDIGREES

Computer generated pedigrees of NAPHA registered horses are available which give the sire/dam, grandsires/granddams and great grandsires/granddams (if they are in the database.)

INTERNET SITE & E-MAIL

This comprehensive Internet site offers information updates, NAPHA forms, show results and e-mail access. A show schedule, show results and annual point standings are posted and updated. The "Latest News" page hosts a "Photo of the Month" as well as information of timely or news-worthy content.
