NORTH AMERICAN PERUVIAN HORSE ASSOCIATION

   INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE
   TRANSFER OF A HORSE
FROM THE AAOBPPH OR CANADIAN REGISTRY

Please Note: This does NOT mean that the horse will no longer be registered
with the AAOBPPH or Canada - only that the normally required breeding
certificates, stallion reports, etc. will be waived on the presumption that
they have been properly filed with the original registry.

1. Complete the top third on the front of the registration application and
sign where it says "owner of the mare at the time of foaling" - striking
out the "of mare at the time of foaling" part. (Except for signature,
please type or print in ink.)

2. Complete the markings section on the back of the application. Be sure to
do so with the horse in front of you to insure accurate markings for
     identification.

3. Return to the NAPHA with:
     a) copies of both sides of the AAOBPPH or Canadian registration papers
(also ANCPCPP &/or any other registration papers the horse may have.)
     b) If the horse was registered in Peru after May of 1982 (see "Fecha de
Registro in the lower left corner of the ANCPCPP papers,) the Registry
requires documentation that the horse qualifies for a closed stud book.
This verification is made via copies of the sire's and dam's ANCPCPP
certificates of registration (or grandsire's and granddam's and further
back until pedigree shows registration prior to 1982.)
     c) The required color photographs (at least two - one of each side which
show all markings as well as the face of the horse). Please clearly
label photos with horse's name. We would prefer that the photographs
NOT be Polaroid type unless they are of excellent quality - clearly and
accurately showing the color and markings of the horse. If the photos
submitted do not clearly and accurately show all four legs from each side
and the designated color of the horse, the Registrar will be required to
request additional ones. Digital or color copies are not accepted. d) If the horse was registered in the AAOBPPH after September 30, 1999, verification of parentage by DNA is required for transfer UNLESS a stallion report for the sire (which lists the dam with appropriate breeding dates for the foaling date) was properly filed with the NAPHA. e) Transfer fee: 2002 - Free to members (Non member: AAOBPPH $45, Canada $35) Please note: ALL ungelded males registered or transferred to the NAPHA will be registered with a "T" number indicating that they have not yet been registered for breeding purposes. These horses will be subject to NAPHA rules regarding registration of stallions for breeding (those rules require DNA typing by UC Davis, a veterinarian's statement that the horse has two normal, descended testicles and a fee of $125 which includes the DNA typing costs.) If you have any questions, please contact the NAPHA office.
