The Wine Country Peruvian Horse Club was once a thriving horse club in Northern California based in the Napa/Sonoma area. At one time there were over 150 members who participated in trail rides, play days, parades, horse shows, and demonstrations. (Western States Horse Exposition/Sacramento). Through these activities many built lasting friendships, but most of all everyone came together to share and enjoy their love of the Peruvian Horse. The club, like many other clubs throughout the United States, has lost members and horses over the last decade.
Last year a group of us met in Sacramento to discuss the possibilities of revitalizing our club. At this meeting we decided to continue on but have not yet met membership requirements to become a recognized Regional Club. We also decided to open up our membership to include all of Northern California. The North American Peruvian Horse Association (NAPHA) recognizes that the clubs are the driving force in promoting the breed in the United States. In order to continue as a recognized club, we need a minimum of five (5) Owner Members of NAPHA. As a recognized club we are then listed on the NAPHA Website. We would like to know if you or anyone you know, who owns a Peruvian horse in Northern California, would be interested in joining the club to enjoy and promote this unique breed. NAPHA membership is not required but encouraged.
